Hopper
Purpose: To find flight and hotel deals to save you money.
Hopper is a mobile-only app that is helpful to use when you are planning a family trip to anywhere in the world and want to search for travel deals (flights and hotels). The app has a price prediction feature that analyses data and predicts the best time you should book your flight or hotel (it is apparently 95% accurate in its predictions). The app also sends notifications to you when prices for flights or hotels drop. Another useful feature of Hopper is that for a small fee you can freeze the price for a period of time, avoiding increases, and if the price does happen to drop even further you still pay the lower price.

Pokemon Go
Purpose: An app to get you outside and exploring a city
Pokemon Go is a game that allows players to catch and collect virtual creatures called “Pokemons” in real-world locations. So Pokemon Go is not necessarily a travel app, HOWEVER, it is one of the best apps for getting your kids outside, exploring and walking in cities around the world. The game uses GPS to track the player’s location and places virtual Pokestops and Gyms in real-world locations such as landmarks, monuments, and popular tourist destinations. My son loves to catch Pokemon in far flung locations and he will walk great distances to do so. I just asked him what his favorite Pokemon Go travel catch is, and apparently it’s one he caught in the countryside just outside Aberdeen!
You can download Pokemon Go from the App Store or Google Play.
Postagram
Purpose: An app to help you create and send postcards to family and friends.
Do you still like to send postcards? We do, and will often purchase them, write them up but never get a chance to send them. I recently found a bundle from 5 years ago, great for me to reminisce over, not so great for the people they were intended for. Postagram is an app that solves this problem. It allows you to create personalised postcards using your own photos from your travels, and for a small cost the cards can be sent anywhere in the world. The best thing about this app is kids love to use it as well and it can also be used on an iPad.
You can download Postagram from the App Store or Google Play.
Thank you for reading! Do you have any great travel apps that you would like to share with us? We would love to hear about them.
