We recently spent two great weeks visiting Malta and Gozo. This photo was taken in the capital Valletta, which is miniscule in size but-jam packed full of things to see and do – you could easily spend 2 full days exploring. Having two very young kids and a double buggy, a full exploration of the city’s museums and churches was never going to be an option for us and instead we optimistically planned a half day trip from where we were staying at the other end of the island.
The weather was hot and the tourist crowds aplenty so we decided to spend our morning meandering through the city, getting lost in the little streets and taking in all the amazing architecture. Along the way we stopped for coffee and pastry at one of the many outdoor cafes and people watched, we admired the Grand Master’s Palace from the piazza outside and allowed Miss M to play in the fountains (above photo). We ended our visit in the shade of Upper Barrakka Gardens with ice tea and beer and amazing views of the Grand Harbour.

Adorable photo and what a great memory. Since my son was born we go to fewer museums and tend to wander the side streets a lot more too. I actually prefer it that way now. Everyone is so much happier. I am so jealous you went to Malta. It’s on my list and I’m just trying to figure out when we can go. Can’t wait to hear more.
All my relatives in Germany love to vacation in Malta. I haven’t been yet, but would like to. Sounds like fun!
